Tirani Meritokrasi dan Reimajinasi Solidaritas: Sebuah Kajian Berdasarkan Perspektif Michael Sandel

<p>This article presents Michael Sandel’s concept on the tyranny of meritocracy and reimagining solidarity its<br />relevance in Indonesia. Meritocracy is a kind ideology that believes those who are successful deserve to<br />breathe their success to heart’s content, while for fail, there no one blame but themselves.<br />Sandel’s view this logic makes undermines togetherness as ethical foundation<br />of democracy. The more we think our own effort, poor people’s failure fault,<br />it harder us imagine ourselves someone else’s shoes. liberal society accepts fair<br />the hierarchy between rich poor, smart stupid, or unsuccessful. This<br />belief generates arrogance winners contempt losers. For Sandel, Trump’s populism US a<br />form rebellion against meritocracy. To counter cultivate the<br />imagination solidarity, should propose idea humility public virtue.
